Lamia Kurt from Midyat successfully completed our beekeeping training and turned her dream into reality. Through the project "Enhancing Protection, Social Cohesion and Access to Livelihoods for Vulnerable Refugees and Host Communities in Southeast Türkiye," we supported Lamia and her team with 87 fully stocked beehives and essential beekeeping equipment.
Bringing together women and men, as well as members of both local and Syrian communities, the team represents a powerful example of cooperation, social cohesion, and shared production.
Today, they work among lavender fields and medicinal and aromatic plants, transforming nature's richness into value-added products by producing lavender-infused honey.
This journey—where dreams become hard work and hard work becomes sustainable production—stands as an inspiring example of resilience, cooperation, and livelihood development.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented in partnership between Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the Development Foundation of Türkiye (DFT).
